For the first time in the State, the police has booked a suspected militant under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Amendment Ordinance, 2004, which came into being to replace the repealed POTA.
Many legal practitioners are not fully aware of the definitions and clauses of the new Ordinance as copies of the same are not yet available.
An alleged member of the KCP, Kh Tomba (30) of Naoremthng Khullem Leikai was produced before the Court of the CJM, Imphal today.
He was booked under u/s 20 UAD Ordinance by the Lamphel police under FIR number 152 (10) 04.He is working as the information and public relations secretary of the outfit under one Pakhangba, the police charged.
The accused was arrested by the police at about 5.30 a today, police record said.
The police also requested the Court to remand him to police custody for seven days for further investigation.
Since the prosecution did not submit the detailed definition of Ordinance against the booked suspect, the Court declined to accept the prayer of the police.
