Headmaster hurt in grenade attack

Imphal, March 30 2011:
The headmaster of a Primary School sustained injuries when a hand grenade lobbed by unidentified armed persons exploded at his house at Kwakeithel Thiyam Awang Leikai late evening today.
According to information culled from the site of the incident, the hand grenade landed and exploded near the veranda of the house belonging to Laishram Ratan (42), who is the headmaster of Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai Primary School, at around 7 pm today.
Ratan was hit by bomb splinters all over behind his back and has been admitted to RIMS for treatment.
Ratan was drawing water from a plastic water storage tank placed near the veranda when the hand grenade exploded.
The impact of the explosion was so great that the water tank was damaged and the CI sheet roof as well as the walls of the house were destroyed.

The family members have clarified that they have not received any demand or threat from any UG group.
Condemning such unwarranted attacks, the family members have also denounced it as an act of cowardice.
