Imphal, August 23 2012:
Contending that the recent attacks on North East people in some cities is not a clash amongst Indian people, BJP national president Nitin Gadkari has asserted that the ongoing outrage in Assam is a fallout of continuous influx and settlement of Bangladesh and Pakistan nationals in the country.
Charging the UP Government of failing to control the situation arising out of the Assam clashes, Gadkari who arrived here on a special flight on a two-day visit to Manipur, asserted that the Assam violence spreading to other parts of the country is not a communal clash but a problem created by foreigners.
Addressing a BJP function organised at Manipur Film Development Corporation auditorium hall at Palace Compound to welcome leaders of different political parties who recently joined the ranks of the State BJP, the National president maintained that presence of large number of foreigners in the North East region, including Manipur is the chief factor that triggered the Assam violence.

Asserting that the issue at hand needs to be tackled from the perspective of foreigners migrating and settling in India, he also charged the Congress-led UPA Government of failing to protect the Indian people.
Assuring that BJP will initiate debate at the ongoing session of Parliament on the recent death of Md Sarif of Manipur, who reportedly died after being thrown out from a running train, Gadkari with apparent reference to the Congress, affirmed that BJP is not a single-family political party.
BJP is a political organisation that does not differentiate an individual or group of people on the basis of religion, language or community, he asserted that BJP is committed to ensuring all-round development of the minority communities.
Further stating that BJP's mission is to improve the socio-economic condition of the under-privileged section of the society, Nitin Gadkari also lashed out at Congress leaders for ignoring plight of the poor people.
Labelling AICC chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as symbols of corruption, he pointed to the recent report by the CAG to substantiate his stand that the Centre as well as Congress-ruled States are presently the most corrupt Governments in the country.
Maintaining that the high rate of corruption in Congress-ruled States is an indication of the Centre unable to tackle the problem of public fund misuse, Gadkari also the blamed alleged infeasible economic policy of the Central Government for the masses continuing to bear the brunt of faulty policies.
Noting that this is his third visit to Manipur, the BJP chief lamented that despite abundant natural beauty and huge potential for tourism industry, unstable law and order situation, high rate of corruption and poor socio-economic condition are deterring the people's aspiration for all-round development in the State.
Hailing MC Mary Kom for bringing laurel to india by winning bronze medal in the London Olympics, he also applauded performances of other Olympians from Manipur at the recently concluded Olympics.
Other BJP leaders who attended the event included the party's national general secretary Tapir Gao, Zonal organising national secretary Chandrasekhar Rao, Assam MP Bijoya Chatterjee and former Union Minister Th Chaoba.
In her brief speech at the occasion, Bijoya Chatterjee affirmed that when BJP regains power in the Centre, Kabow Valley gifted to Burma by Jawaharlal Nehru would be restored back to Manipur.
Th Chaoba, who also addressed the gathering expressed confidence that BJP would be able to restore Manipur's pride and honour.
Under the leadership of Nitin Gadkari, BJP will ensure that the malaise of corruption would be completely weeded out from India, asserted the former Minister.
