Imphal, August 23 2012:
Longmai area Zeliangrong Students' Union, Inpui Naga Students' Union, Village Authority council, Naga Women's Union and Rongmei Naga Council have alleged that Chingtam Revolutionary Army of United Naga Peoples' Council (UNPC) has served monetary demand on Government and private schools of Noney areas.
Representatives of these organisations contended that the armed wing of UNPC served demand notes pm a number of schools of Noney area since the first week of August.
The demand notes were followed by collection of mobile phone numbers of the heads of the institutions with many of them receiving threats through the mobile phones today that not only would the UNPC take them captives in case of failure to comply with the demand but students too would be kidnapped.
Consequent to the threats described as 'very extreme', an emergency meeting attended by representatives of the longmaibased organisations was held this evening and strongly condemned the threat issued to the heads of institutions.
Speaking to The Sangai Express some functionaries of these organisations took serious note that demand of no less than Rs 10,000 had been served to each of the private schools despite that fact private schools were set-up with huge investment to serve the student community in a better manner.
Terming the monetary demand as un-revolutionary, these organisations asserted that they would not remain as silent spectators in case any unwanted situation is created by the UNPC.
