Imphal, August 23 2012:
Registering strong opposition against the intimidation and threat to schools' authority by underground factions in Noney area over making pretty monetary demands, the Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur (ZSUM) has urged all UG factions involved in making monetary demand to schools to withdraw their demand.
Pointing out that UG factions have threatened schools to close down if they failed to pay their demand, a statement issued by the Chairman of ZSUM, Stephen Zeme affirmed that the students' body would not tolerate such military repressive domination over the sacred learning places and students' community.
Stating that the students' body is strongly against such 'tyrant,' 'despotic,' and 'uncivilised' culture of the UGs, the ZSUM statement urged all concerned to make education a free zone.
The statement also urged the UG groups to stop creating nuisance and panic to the schools and educational institutions once and for all.
ZSUM further appealed the public, social organisations and students' community to cooperate to withstand against such anti-social elements in the future and make every possible means to facilitate education and initiate efforts towards pacifying various social upheavals.
