COVID-19: State reports 774 cases, 16 deaths ; Daily positivity rate sill worrisome

Imphal, July 19 2021:
The State on Monday recorded 774 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and 16 deaths in the last 24 hours, pushing the active cases to 9,693, according to COVID-19 Common Control Room.
Despite the slight decline in the fresh cases, the rate of infection, however , was 17.83 percent, which is the second highest of the month and way above the 5 percent recommended by the WHO for opening up.
The highest Covid positivity rate of 19.1 for the month was reported on July 8 .
Notably, the State witnessed an upsurge of Covid cases in the last five days exluding today, recording as high as 5, 405 active cases during the period.
The highest of 1,171was recorded on July 17 .
The cumulative figure of Covid positive cases now stands at 85,596, including 3, 938 from among Central security personnel.
Of the confirmed new cases, 773 are from among the general population (390 male and 383 female) and 1 is from CAPF.
The positive persons were tested at RIMS (30), JNIMS (116), District Hospitals (397) and other testing centres (231) .
The positive cases from general population are from Imphal East (230), Imphal West (217), Thoubal (83), Bishnupur (84), Kakching (38), Ukhrul (3), Chura-chandpur (46), Chandel (15), Senapati (7), Tameng-long (17), Tengnoupal (5), Pherzawl (5), Kamjong (3) and Kangpokpi (20).The 16 deaths, on the other hand, were from Imphal West (5), Imphal East (1), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (1), Kakching (1), Kangpokpi (2), Chandel (1) and Churachandpur (4) .
The cumulative number of Covid deaths now stands at 1392 while the recovery rate is 87.04 percent.
Today, 741 persons - Home Isolation (324); RIMS (29); JNIMS (7); CCCs (144) and CHICs (237) were discharged.
Meanwhile, a total of 2004 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 315 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.
According to Covid Control Room, the number of Covid vaccine doses administered on July 18 is 7, 380, while the cumulative dose administered is 1,043,504 (1st dose 9,29,764 and 2nd dose 1,13,740) .
This means the State, which has 19,39,244 eligible population for vaccination, has vaccinated 53.81% of the population with at least one dose of the vaccine.
47.94% of the adult population have been vaccinated with 1st dose, only a mere 5.87% of the eligible population are fully vaccinated against the virus.
The number of patients, as on on July 18, admitted/adjusted against available bed strength in different facilities are RIMS (230/224); JNIMS (245/286); I Land Hospital (38/60); District Covid Facilities (169/347): MSF (24/30); Private Covid Hospitals (244/310) and CCCs (1600/2986).The grand total of admitted patients is 2550 and the number of beds available is 1764, said the control room.
