Imphal, October 06 2014:
Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju today launched a scathing attack against the State's Congress Government accusing it of indulging in rampant corruption and misappropriation of funds sanctioned for several development programmes.
He said that the Union Government has been working round the clock in order to launch an investigation into some major cases of misappropriation of public money.
Speaking at a flag hoisting ceremony cum election meeting of BJP candidate Maibam Dhanabir today, MoS Home Kiren Rijiju said that the Congress Government swindled almost 30 to 40 per cent of all the funds sanctioned for different development programmes.
In spite of being in power for a prolonged period, the Congress Government side-stepped the core issue of development and plunged itself in rampant corruption.
As a result, the State's law and order situation has deteriorated to the extreme.
Road and transport infrastructure are in shambles.
Such pitiable condition abetted the insurgency issue, Kiren Rijiju said.

Pointing out that BJP has stormed to power at the Centre, the Union MoS Home appealed to all underground groups to come to the mainstream.
He went on to declare that the Union Government has prepared many welfare programmes for UG cadres willing to come to the mainstream.
Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a distinguished political leader at the international level, he cautioned that Manipur would receive little benefit from the BJP Government at the Centre, if the party's candidate is not elected in the by-election.
"On the other hand, if the BJP candidate is elected, I would come back to congratulate the victorious candidate together with a big package", Rijiju assured.
Even though Manipur occupies top position in terms of excellence in games and sports and richness in culture, the State is ranked lowest in the development index.
This is a fall out of the absence of a corruption free Government, Rijiju asserted.
Then the Union MoS released the party's manifesto for the by-election.
BJP State unit president Th Chaoba decried that Chief Minister O Ibobi never visited Hiyanglam A/C or listened to the people's grievances even though Hiyanglam A/C is a part of Thoubal district, his home district.
The plan to hold an election meeting at the residential gate of a candidate is an unwarranted provocation by the Chief Minister.
It would be interesting if the Congress party dares to hold any meeting near the BJP candidate's home or near any venue of BJP's election meeting, Chaoba asserted.
He also vowed that Hiyanglam A/C would be transformed into a model Assembly segment if the BJP candidate is elected.
Many other BJP leaders also spoke at the meeting.
