Health official COVID-19 claims four more lives to take toll to 75

COVID-19 claimed four mores lives during the last 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 75 .
A health official informed The Sangai Express that Manipur is yet to reach the peak.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, a 74-year old woman from Imphal West and a 54-year old woman from Kakching died at RIMS due to COVID-19 even as the virus claimed a 94-year old man at Tamenglong during the last 24 hours.
A 60 year old man from Imphal East also passed away at JNIMS at about 4 pm today.
For Tamenglong district, the 94-year old man is the first victim of COVID-19 .
He was also suffering from asthma and piles apart from suffering BP stroke twice earlier.
Apart from the 94-year old man, five more members of his family were tested positive for the contagion and are undergoing home quarantine.
According to the press release, 206 people including six personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Senapati, Noney, Raj Medicity, Kakching, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Shija Hospital, Tamenglong, Kangpokpi, Thoubal, Babina Diagnostics, Jiribam, Tengnoupal, Churachandpur, Hillside Hospital, Advance Hospital and Samaritan Hospital.
Of the 200 civilians who have been tested positive, 76 belong to Imphal West, 55 to Imphal East, 18 to Thoubal, four to Senapati, three to Jiribam, three to Tengnoupal, six to Kangpokpi, four to Churachandpur, 13 to Noney, three to Chandel, four to Kakching, six to Bishnupur and five to Tamenglong.
Notably, none of them has any significant history of travelling outside the State.
Altogether 124 people were discharged during the last 24 hours from RIMS (12), CCC UNACCO (27), CCC Kakching (3), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (25), CCC Senapati (2), CCC Lamding (1), CCC Thoubal (14), CCC Jiribam (1), JNIMS (24), home isolation (2) and CAPF (13) .
The total positive cases has surged to 11,855 (general population 9,450, Central security personnel 2,405) .
It includes 2,576 active cases (general population 2,252, Central security personnel 324) and 9,205 discharged cases (general population 7127, Central security personnel 2,078) .
The recovery rate as on Sunday is 77.64 per cent.
A late report said that out of 337 samples tested today at JNIMS, 127 were found infected by the virus.
On being enquired for the incessant rise in the number of COVID-19 positive cases and fatality in the State, one Health official said that the State has not yet reached the peak of daily infection.
Many more people would be infected by the contagion and people with low immunity would be worst hit, said the official.
He said that the Government has been working to open COVID care centres in private hospitals and some of them have already been opened.
Further, the Government has initiated necessary steps to increase the number of beds at RIMS and JNIMS to tackle the pandemic.
Meanwhile, an order for 50,000 rapid antigen test kits has been sent, informed the official.
