14 more succumb, active cases cross 9000 mark

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to exact a heavy toll with 14 persons succumbing to the virus and 729 people found positive during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of active cases to 9035 .
Meanwhile a third case of Black Fungus has been detected at Raj Medicity on a 37-year old woman.
The woman who hails from Bishnupur district was earlier infected by COVID-19 and is currently undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity.
According to a bulletin issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Imphal West recorded five deaths and they were aged 75, 78, 72, 57 and 71, and all of them were male.
Imphal East, Churachandpur and Kakching reported two deaths each.
The victims from Churachandpur were aged 36 (male) and 80 (female); the residents of Imphal East district who have succumbed to the virus were aged 65 (female) and 51 (female) while the victims hailing from Kakching district were aged 40 (male) and 55 (male) .
The other victims were from Tengnoupal aged 55 (female), Ukhrul aged 72 (male) and Bishnupur aged 67 (male) .
The 14 victims expired at Shija Hospital, Churachandpur District Hospital, home isolation, Ukhrul, Babina Speciality Hospital, JNIMS and RIMS, pushing the death toll to 839 .
On the other hand, 728 civilians and one CAPF personnel were confirmed to be COVID-19 positive during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals and other private testing centres.
The civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (311), Imphal East (108), Thoubal (79), Bishnupur (52), Kakching (26), Ukhrul (6), Churachandpur (93), Chandel (4), Senapati (10), Tamenglong (20), Kangpokpi (4), Noney (7) and Jiribam (8) .
A total of 622 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours following recovery and 489 of them were under home isolation.
The others were discharged from RIMS (7), JNIMS (6) and different COVID Care Centres (120) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has spiked to 52,278 (general population 48,516 and Central security personnel 3,762) .
It includes 9,035 active cases (general population 9000 and Central security personnel 35) and 42,404 recovered cases (general population 38,682 and Central security personnel 3,722).The recovery rate has further slipped to 81.11 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 840 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 544 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the State.
In addition, the Directorate of Health Services has 900 D-type cylinders in stock in its central medical store, according to the bulletin.
It further informed that 3,93,496 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the State so far.
