Superintendent of Police (SP) of Imphal West district Akoijam Jhalajit has earlier made a clarification and re- futed the allegation against him by Head Constable Herojit.
Further, the Dy CM said that Herojit made his own statement and it would be subjudice to comment on it.
As such, the State Govern- ment cannot comment further as the case is still going on at the Court and it could amount to contempt of Court.
The enquiry of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will bring out the truth be- hind all the claims and counter-claims.
"We have to wait for the final verdict after the case is thoroughly studied and investigated by the CBI," Gaikhangam said.
"It is upto the CBI to do the needful," said Gaikhangam.
When asked if the Central Government had questioned the State Government on the matter, he said, so far no of- ficial question has been raised.
But there is a report that the Additional Chief Sec- retary (Home) was asked by the Central Government to in- form on the issue, he as- serted.
"The statement of the SP should have answered the question raised", he added.
Gaikhangam further said the claims that Thounaojam Herojit has gone missing af- ter he landed here from Delhi needs to be thoroughly exam- ined and further comments cannot be made as the truth behind is yet to be estab- lished.
