Imphal, April 03 2019: Chief Minister N Biren Singh has claimed that the Congress party will not return to power for the next 30 to 40 years and as the BJP has more MLAs than the Congress party in the State, it (BJP) is sure to win the coming Lok Sabha election by a landslide.

He made the statement during a flag hoisting ceremony for BJP candidate for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency election, Dr RK Ranjan, held at his residence at Kongba Makha Nandeibam Leikai today.

Leaders of 10 political parties which make up the Manipur Democratic Alliance, were also present during the event.

Later a public rally was also organised at Kongba Soudabung ground.

Speaking to the people, CM N Biren said that the BJP does not differentiate on religion or caste and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will return to power again and strive for unity and development for all.

Biren conveyed that under Modi's reign, India carried out an air strike at Balakot, in Pakistan, following the Pulwama attack, which is a first of its kind.

Modi was praised by the people for this act which, none of the past Prime Ministers even dared to think of, he added.

He then took a jibe at the Congress party and alleged that many are leaving the Congress and joining the BJP after realising the communal antics and policy of the Congress.

The BJP cares for the people of the North East.

Manipur had been waist deep in hot water due to the past administration by leaders who worked only for their self interest, he added.

Speaking about the Congress' announcement that AFSPA will be reviewed if the party comes to power, Biren said that the Congress party, which brought AFSPA to Manipur and led to the death of many innocent people, will not be able to come back to power for more than 30-40 years.

The Chief Minister then claimed that more than 70-80 percent of the Meitei Pangals will vote for the BJP and explained that necessary orders have been issued for building 2,200 houses at Lilong while a Muslim Keithel is under construction at Lilong.

What difference will Congress party bring by just shouting about minority-majority issues, he asked.

Biren the claimed that there were no bandh, strike and blockade after the BJP came to power in the State and the bond between the hills and the valley have improved considerably.

Even Khwairamband Keithel can remain open till late night nowadays which is a sign of positive development, he added.

Biren then remarked that the Congress MLAs are getting confused and making up many baseless statements without checking any facts and added that the Congress MLAs are mincing baseless words in public domain as they are not able to perform any positive work at the grassroots level.

The CM continued that the BJP Government has waged an all out war against drug and in the process the BJP Government, without any biases, even arrested and jailed an individual who was in the party and who was the ADC of Chandel.

He assured that BJP will work for bringing peace, prosperity and development in the region and for the people.

Stating that the party will also work for the welfare of the indigenous people, he added that BJP will wipe out any communal tension in the region as well.

N Biren then said that BJP candidate Dr RK Ranjan has worked hard for the State as well as its people for improving the relation between the hills and the valley etc and in recognition of his actions, the Central leaders gave the party ticket to him.

On the other hand, CAF and PD Minister Karam Shyam said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is facing the Lok Sabha election head on by keeping development as his target.

PM Modi took the right step by giving the party ticket to Dr RK Ranjan, he added.

Speaking to the gathering, Dr RK Ranjan said that he worked tirelessly and gave all he can during the establishment of RIMS and Central Agriculture University.

Claiming that Narendra Modi will return as the Prime Minister, Ranjan said that under Act East Policy, Manipur will be developed as an economic hub.

He also assured to work for the protection and preservation of the cultures, traditions of the indigenous people.
