Imphal, January 30 2022: The 38th death anniversary of Yangmaso Shaiza was observed at the office of the Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) at New Checkon today.

The death anniversary observation was organised by United All Communities' Social Uplifters, Kangleipak ( UNACSU) .

The observation ceremony started off by paying homage and floral tributes to the portrait of Yangmaso Shaiza.

Speaking on the occasion, Nangmeirakpam Brajakanta, Faculty Member, Department of Law, Manipur University expressed that the youths of the State should take a major role and strive towards the right path striving for a unified society.

He called for concerted efforts to actualise the vision of the farsighted leader like Yangmaso Shaiza who strove earnestly for an egalitarian and unified society.

He also stressed on the need to pave a path by the youths for a progressive future embracing the heritage of the forefathers and to safeguard the identity, culture and tradition.

Recalling Yangmaso Shaiza who was also a former Chief Minister of the State as an eminent leader he said that such a leader was loved by both the people of the hills and the valley.

It may be noted that he was shot dead on January 30, 1984 .

He urged all to follow the footsteps of a leader like Shaiza who worked for development of the hills and the valley region and work collectively to strengthen the bond of love and harmony among the people of different communities.

Further N Brajakanta also expressed the desire to form a legislative council of different communities and said that such a council will help in preserving the unity and integrity of the State.

He also emphasized on the need to check the condition of the indigenous people in Manipur inorder to work out measures for their upliftment so that it remains protected from dirty tactics of outsiders.

President of UNACSU, Jitendra Ningomba lauded Yangmaso Shaiza as a politician who pursued for the upliftment of the hilly and valley people and if one follows his pursuit the State will move forward towards a progressive path.

In view of the ensuing general election, he appealed all to analyse the contributions of the intending candidates and to exercise the franchise wisely in the interest of the State.
