In one of the rarer cases, a mother has accused three teachers of the Little Flower School of grievously bashing up her daughter and forcing her to stand for two hours and a half in the school campus.
Consequent upon the alleged harsh punishment, the student Arina Longjam of Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai who is reading in class IX is suffering from mental trauma and is undergoing treatment at RIMS, alleged the mother.
Peeved with the action of the three teachers, Bino mother of the student, filed a complaint case with the Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) against the teachers identified as M Ranibala, S Bijaya and L Promilla.
Consequent upon the complaint filed by the mother, the MHRC has registered a case for enquiry under the relevant provisions of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993.Bino alleged that her daughter was falsely accused of stealing a gold chain belonging to one of her classmates.
Under the accusation, the three teachers severely thrashed her daughter besides forcing Arina to stand for two hours and half in front of all the students, she alleged.
On October 31, the mother also lodged a complaint with the Lamphel police station but the latter failed to take up necessary action against the three teachers, Bino lamented.
