With the main objective of ushering in quality education by putting in place an effective education system and to enable completion of the prescribed common school syllabus in time, All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association has announced its decision of conducting a common examination for class VIII standard starting from November 30.Addressing a press conference in this regard at Manipur Press Club here this afternoon, chairman of the Association's examination committee N Tomba explained that the common examination for the class VIII students has been planned keeping in mind the existing provisions for recruitment of class VIII standard candidates in the Government services.
The proposed common examination for the students of class VIII would begin from November 30 and it would be appeared by students of 192 schools in the four valley districts, Tomba informed.
He further informed that like in the previous year, the Association would also conduct the Pre-Board Examination starting from November 23 for class X students who would be appearing in the Board examination.
Both the common examinations would be conducted in the same model of the Board of Secondary Education, he said, adding that the Association is also targeting to cover all the schools both Private and Government under the ambit of these common examinations.
While informing that the Association in collaboration with the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur had conducted evaluation workshops for teachers at Imphal as well as at Moirang, Tomba said matters related to question setting and teaching methodology have been thoroughly discussed during these workshops.
Based on the feedbacks and reports of these workshops, subject experts and teachers have been roped in for setting the questions of the common examination for the students of class VIII, Tomba added.
Speaking of other plans, Tomba said that the Association has made necessary preparation for conducting common examination for class V from next year onward for all the schools in the State.
