Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy : Manipur go down by 70 runs against Andhra Pradesh

Manipur suffered a 70 run loss against Andhra Pradesh for the fifth loss in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Group C competition at JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi today.
Andhra Pradesh opted to bat first in this day and night match and racked up a commanding total of 186 runs for 3 wickets courtesy India international Hanuma Vihari's 55-ball 84 .
Ricky Bhui (40 not out), Shaik Rasheed (31) and Ashwin Hebbar (22) also contributed in the Andhra Pradesh innings which saw Srikar Bharat depart for 2-ball1 off the RK Rex's fifth delivery of the first over.
L Kishan Singha then trapped Ashwin Hebbar lbw for 22 in the third delivery of the 8th over to reduce Andhra Pradesh to 57 for 2 .
Hanuma Vihari and Shaik Rasheed then forged a 76-run partnership for the third wicket to take the tally past the 100 mark before Shaik Rasheed departed for 31 runs in the second delivery of the 17th over.
Hanumar Vihari however anchored well and stitched another 53 runs along with Ricky Bhui for the fourth wicket to give Manipur a target of 187 runs.
RK Rex returned with the best bowling figures of 2/40 in four overs as Kishan Singh finished with 1/29 in 4 overs.
Chasing 187 for the win, Manipur batters were given a torrid time by Cheepurapalli Stephen who returned with a haul of five wickets for 10 runs in 3.5 overs and eventually collapsed at 116 in 19.5 overs.
Prafullomani top-scored for Manipur with a 28-ball 31 finding the boundary four times (3 fours and 1 six) as Johnson Singh (22), Kangabam Priyojit (17) and Bidash Chingakham (17) too added double digit scores to the State's tally.
Kavura Saiteja also picked two wickets including RK Rex and Bikash Singh in this innings as Manish Golamaru and Tripurana Vijay shared a wicket each.
Manipur will play Arunachal Pradesh in the next match on October 25 at the same venue from 4.30 pm.
