Y Dhanabir claims W Lalmani Memorial State Level Chess Tournament title

Imphal, January 30 2024:
Yambem Dhanabir claimed the title of the 1st Wahengbam Lalmani Singh Memorial State Level Open Chess Tournament 2024 organised under the aegis of Manipur Chess Association at Sagolband Tera Amudon Akham Leikai.
Yambem Dhanabir amassed 6.5 points in 7 rounds to walk away Rs 15,000 richer as Taorem Chitaranjan and Oinam Ningthem finished second and third on same 6 points to settle for cash prizes of Rs 11,000 and 7,000 respectively.

Fourth placed Kh Shanjoy (5.5 pts), fifth placed RK Bhogen (5 pts) and sixth placed S Premjit (5 pts) in the meantime were feted with Rs 4,000; Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively as 7th to 10th placed players received Rs 1,000 each.
RK Sudhirsana was also feted with a consolation prize of Rs 500 .
Top two players in U-11 category - Lemba Sougaijam and Mangal Elangbam; U-15 category- Dayanand Thoudam and Nadia Sougaijam and Veteran category- Amom Shyamkishor and RK Ningthem were also feted with cash prizes (Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,000 for U-11 and U-15 and Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 for veteran) .
Puyam Lanchenbi and Huidrom Ranjan who were adjudged best players were also feted with cash prize of Rs 1,000 each.
