Tujang Area beat Motbung Area to win IA Cup

The 1st Inter Area Invitation Cup, also known as IA Cup-2015 came to an end on March 6 at LS Playground, Motbung.
The tournament which is an initiative of Sir Nehlun Foundation was organized by the sports department of the foundation with the aim to promote the quality and outlook of games and sports in the society as well as to build a platform for educated unemployment youths who have sporting talents and aspirations.
The closing ceremony of the month long tournament, which began on February 10 last, was attended by IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip, Kangpokpi MLA Nemcha Kipgen and President of AMFA Raghumani as the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour respectively while Haokholal Hangshing, Chairman ADC Sadar Hills was the Functional President.
Speaking at the occasion IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip stressed on the effects of sports in engineering sustainable and enduring peace in the society before adding that sports coincides with community values and political agencies as it attempts to define the morals and ethics attributed not only to athletes but the totality of society as a whole.
"To ignore sports is to ignore a significant aspect of any society and its culture", noted the IFC Minister who went on to describe sports as 'the opiate of the masses.' He stated that now is the age of the sport consumer which is dissimilar to the age of the sport spectator.
The Minister donated a sum of Rs 1 lakh to the IA Cup organization committee.
MLA Nemcha Kipgen pointed out that it is time the youths refrain from drugs and others anti social elements and strive for rectification of their past mistakes and social upliftment by involving themselves in games and sports, besides affirmatively ensuring good health and fine physique.
Encouraging the young players and the spectators, Nemcha Kipgen urged them to adopt the spirit of discipline and good conduct both inside and outside the playground.
Haokholal Hangshing, Chairman ADC Sadar Hills said games and sports is the only platform where we can unite without segregation of caste, creed and religion.
While lauding the organization committee and Sir Nehlun Foundation, he made a wish that the tournament brings 'understanding' among the people asserting that it is the key to developing peace in the society.
On the other hand, Tujang Area (TAYA) defeated Motbung Area (MAYA) 3-2 to clinch the IA Cup along with a cash prize of Rs.50,000 .
Lenminthang Kipgen, Kakai Kipgen and Thangminmang scored for TAYA while Boyjo scored from two penalties for MAYA who had to settle for the runners-up place and a cash award of Rs.30,000 .
Third place Champhai Area was awarded with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 15,000 while fourth place Hengbung Area settled with a trophy and Rs.5,000 .
Paominson of TAYA bagged the Golden Boot Award while his teammate Thangminmang bagged the Man of the Final Match award.
