KSO, ANSAM suspend strike

KSO and ANSAM suspended their stir over the issue of the tribal varsity on Tuesday.
In a joint press release, the two apex tribal student bodies said that construction of the approach road from National Highway-2 to Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU), Makhan has started as per the agreement reached between the State Government and KSO-GHQ and ANSAM on March 2.Since then, the two student bodies have resolved to suspend the ongoing agitation of picketing PWD offices in the hill districts and boycotting of classes at IGNTU from March Tuesday.
The student bodies also appealed to the PWD, Electricity Department and PHED to maintain quality in all construction works and also to successfully complete the works on time as per the assurance given.
KSO and ANSAM expressed gratitude to all the subordinate units and branches for extending their support and cooperation in the interest of the student community and tribal welfare and in making the current agitation a success.
The student bodies have been agitating since early January demanding electricity, water supply and construction of the approach road from NH-2 to the IGNTU campus at Makhan so that the next academic session of the university can start functioning at its permanent site at Makhan, Senapati district.
