Imphal, October 10 2010:
An excursion for state students to the XIX Commonwealth Games, New Delhi is being organised by 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR(South) from October 11 to 16 .
The excursion team was felicitated by Major General CA Krishnan, IGAR(South) and Sandhya Krishnan, President, ARWWA in a small function organised at Mantripukhri today.
The excursion comprising of 31 students and 3 teachers will have the opportunity to see the ongoing commonwealth games including the various stadiums and also sight seeing in New Delhi, a release of the IGAR(S) said.
The students who hail from all parts of the state including Imphal, Ukhrul, Chandel and remote areas like Sajik Tampak, Sehlon and Samtal will be led by a team of AR officers and conducting staff.
All administrative arrangements have been sponsored by the Assam Rifles under Military Civic Action Programme.
With Manipuri Athletes in the Indian Contingent putting up incredible performances and winning laurels for the nation, it has added on to the excitement of the student who are eagerly waiting to see and meet their icons like Renubala Devi,Suronjoy Singh,Sonia Chanu,Bombayala Devi and others.
The students are also very excited about their air travel.
The tour will provide an unique opportunity to the students to broaden their horizon.
IGAR(South) during the ceremony emphasized on communal harmony for development and prosperity in the region.
He also highlighted that children are the future leaders and excursions like this will provide a rich experience for their overall development.
He further emphasized that Assam Rifles as true 'Friends of Manipur' will continue to assist people and students through various such projects.
