Dimapur, October 10 2010:
The NSCN-K (GPRN/NSCN), FGN/NNC and the NSCN-IM (NSCN/GPRN) made a joint commitment Saturday to check rampant kidnappings and extortions by the Naga militants 'through a collective mechanism'.
"Acknowledging that kidnappings and extortions have become unbearable concern for all, irrespective of business communities or the general public, the Joint Working Group (JWG) (of the three Naga organisations) agreed to vigilantly check through a collective mechanism forthwith," mentioned one of the five
point agreement.
Another point of commitment made by these Naga underground groups said that activities and movements of its cadres and should remain confined to their own respective jurisdictions and territories.
The agreement was signed jointly by VS Atem of NSCN-IM, C Singson of NSCN-K and Zhopra Vero of FGN/NNC.
The signing was facilitated by Forum for Naga Reconciliation.
The October 9 development was the follow-up of September 18 'summit' where NSCN-IM general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah, NSCN-K general secretary N Kitovi Zhimomi and top FGN/NNC leader S Singnya jointly made two point resolution that the three Naga groups reconcile based on the historical and political rights of the Nagas as outlined by the FNR.
One of Sept 18 'summit' resolutions said that the three Naga organisations are committed to working out their differences and also committed to cessation of hostilities among themselves.
