Imphal, October 10 2010:
Two snake bite victims from Ngarayan and Keinou villages of Bishnupur District of Manipur were treated at the Advance Dressing Station II of HQ 73 Mountain Brigade under Red Shield Division at Bishnupur, a PIB (Defense Wing), Imphal said Sunday.
MK Rongmei (52) son of Lanchalung of Ngaryan village was bitten by a snake while he was working in a field around 8 am yesterday and was brought to the Advance Dressing Station in a critical condition at Loukoipat army camp at 11 pm.
The other snake bite victim, O Romeo (16) son of O Open of Keinou village of the same district was brought by relatives at around 8 pm of the same day and he was referred to Advance Dressing Station II by Bishnupur District Hospital.
He was bitten by a snake while fishing at the lake around 6 pm that day.
He was in a critical condition when he was brought to the Advance Dressing Station, the release said.
The army doctor, Captain Sunil Kumar administered life saving anti snake venom to both the snake bite victims in time saving the lives of the individuals.
Both patients were kept under observation and were discharged in the morning today as per the army doctor's advice.
The parents and relatives who had brought the victims to the doctor expressed their gratitude to the army for this life saving and humane gesture, the release added.
