Imphal, July 01 2009:
In Continuation of the suspension of state tam coach Dr Ksh Birbal and team manager P Raghumani of the 63rd Santosh Trophy, AMFA Secretary, L Ranjit Roy clarifies as just and appropriate action in order to render maximum efforts by officials in future
championships.
In a press conference held at AMSA Complex, Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal, Ranjit Roy said that, coach Birbal was handed over the responsibilities of player selection from the very beginning.
They willingly volunteered to accompany the state team as team coach and manager when AMFA decided to select the officials.
Their suspension of two years from further assignment was a disciplinary action but not a biased one, Ranjit further clarified.
The plea of coach Birbal that the defence line of Manipur in its last match against host Tamil Nadu was not weak cannot be justified as everyone can see from the live telecast of the match that the defence line of anipur was weak.
He further said that AMFA did not make any loop hole in the preparation of the state team from the beginning stage to their journey to Tamil Nadu.
It was under the guidelines of AIFF that AMFA send one one coach, manager and physiotherapist each.
Thus the allegations made by the two officials to AMFA are unjustified and baseless, he further said.
It may be recalled that AMFA had suspended coach Birbal and manager Raghumani for two years from further assignment.
The two officials also resigned from their respective posts alleging the action of AMFA as biased and unjust.
