The 8th Manipur Polo International 2014, organized as part of Sangai Festival concluded today at Imphal Polo Ground.
In today's final India B (Manipur Team) defeated South Africa by a margin of 7 goals to five to claim the championship title.
The closing ceremony was graced by Governor of Manipur KK Paul and Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Lokeshwar Singh respectively as chief guest and president with Social Welfare Minister Ak Mirabai, Agriculture/Fisheries Minister Abdul Nasir, Parliamentary Secretary Vungzagin Valte, MLA L Nandakumakar as guests of honour.

Kolkata Zonal Manager Hemant Bhargava and Silchar Senior Division Manager Debi Prasad Banerjee also attended the function as special invitees.
A cash prize of Rs 1 lakh along with a trophy was awarded to India B (Manipur Team) while South Africa team were awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with a trophy.
Stallon of MPSC won the best pony title and received a cash prize of Rs 15,000 while Forty (Khurai Polo Club) and Lamdanba (Nambul Mapal Club) bagged the second and third titles and received a cash prize of 10,000 and 5,000 respectively being sponsored by Sarungbam (O) Premi.
In today's match, P Ojit of India-B (Manipur) netted three goals, followed with M Jawan scoring a goal in the first chukker while strikes from South Africa's Selly James, John Eustaci and a freak own goal from Pradeep Kumar of India-B (Manipur) made the scoreline 4-3 by the end of the first chukker.
S Bimol and P Ojit of India-B (Manipur) slotted home one goal each to make 2-0 in the second chukker.
P Ojit of India-B (Manipur) struck his fifth goal while South Africa's John Eustaci and Cameroon Chuble netted one goal each in the third chukker.
Both team however failed to score in the fourth chukker.
