Imphal, November 29 2014 :
Reachout, an NGO, has urged the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, to institute a special investigation team or Central Bureau of Investigation to investigate the department of Education and Finance department, Manipur, on how the central funded SSA scheme has been utilised, according to a statement issued by the lead co-ordinator of Reachout.
Alleging the State Government of continuous harassment to the teachers of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan who were recruited in the past years, the statement said 1850 primary teachers and 490 upper primary teachers were officially recruited under SSA vide order number 4/18/2012-SE(S) on September 25, 2012 and 4/38/2012-SE(S) on November 9, 2012 .
Following the recruitment, salaries for the teachers were not paid regularly even to the extent of ten months despite the funds been allocated from the Ministry of Human Resource Department.
The current outstanding salary for 2340 teachers is over Rupees 35 crore.
In the pretence of incompletion of MGEL, the State Government have been neglecting the issue, the statement said.
