Imphal, November 29 2014 :
A day ahead of the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Imphal to participate in the closing ceremony of the Sangai Festival, a bomb blast occurred near 40 Assam Rifles post and Lilong Police Station in Thoubak district killed an 11-year old boy.
The powerful bomb explosion occurred at a paddy field popularly called Sagol Loukol around 9.30 on Saturday.
The dead boy has been identified as Md Wahajuddin (11), son of Md Hafijuddin from Lilong Turel Ahanbi (Saban Mathak) in Thoubal district.
Witnesses said the body of the dead Muslim boy was thrown away from the powerful blast and had his body parts severed.
The blast happened while the boy along with his mother was collecting some forest products nearby.

"The mother immediately rushed the boy to a hospital, where doctors declared him as brought dead," said eyewitnesses from the spot.
Police believed the bomb was planted by militants to target security personnel.
The security forces, including Assam Rifles troopers, led by senior officers have rushed to the spot and launched a combing operation.
No militant group has so far claimed responsibility for the blast, police said. Shortly after the deadly blast, locals held a huge public meeting wherein a joint action committee (JAC) was formed to seek justice in the killing of Wahajuddin.
The JAC's leader Md Rajaudddin demanded immediate shifting of the 40 Assam Rifles camp to somewhere else and pledged not to claim the dead body until their demands that included finding credible clue in the blast are met by the state Government.
The irate local people also resorted to blockade of NH-102 .
However, the stir was suspended following the assurances for finding out the culprits at the earliest given by Cabinet Minister M.Okendro and Abdul Nasir who turned up at the agitation site.
