Modi arrives at Imphal at 2.55 PM today

On his maiden visit to Manipur after becoming the prime minister of India, Narendra Modi is arriving at Imphal International Airport at 2.55 on Sunday to attend the closing ceremony of the Sangai Festival to be held at Bheigyachandra Open Air Theatre, Imphal.
On his arrival at Imphal by a special aircraft of Indian Army, the Prime Minister will be received by a team of state dignitaries including Governor Dr KK Paul, Chief Minister O Ibobi, Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungjathang Tonsing, Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga, Director General of Police Sahid Ahmed and president of BJP Manipur Pradesh Thounaojam Chaoba.
From the airport, the Prime Minister is slated to proceed to Bheigyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT) on a specially arranged bullet proof car which will ply via Keishampat and traffic island of Imphal Post Office.
The dignitary will reach the venue of Sangai Festival by crossing the old Thubuthong bridge which was recently inaugurated.

At the BOAT premises, the prime minister will be accorded a warm welcome by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, MLAs, high ranking civil and police officers.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to grace the closing function of the Festival at 3.15 pm at BOAT as chief guest, while Governor of Manipur and the Chief Minister will attend as special guest and the president of the function respectively.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th.Lokeshore will be the guests of honour in the ceremony.
Following the welcome address to be given by chief minister O Ibobi at 3.46 pm, the prime minister will deliver speech at 3.48 pm.
Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga will propose the vote of thanks at the close of the ceremony.
Following it, the prime minister will proceed to state BJP office at Nityaypat Chuthek and meet party leaders and workers before his departure for Nagaland by helicopter.
In view of the prime minister's visit, elaborate security arrangements have been made in Imphal and greater Imphal areas.
The scheduled cultural programmes at the Sangai Festival on Saturday were reportedly delayed for sometime due to security arrangements.
In the meantime, visitors at the Sangai Festival considerably increased on the eve of its closing today.
Thousands of visitors lined up in queue in front of the two ticket counters, while a large number of people went back without enjoying due to non-availability of tickets.
