AR rifleman kills self in Ukhrul

Imphal, November 12 2023: A rifleman of 24 Assam Rifles on sentry duty at 24 AR Gamnom outpost under Shangshak PS in Ukhrul district reportedly shot himself dead on Saturday.

The deceased rifleman has been identified as Birendra Kumar (39) s/o Kailash Singh of Dinauyalgonj under Islampur PS, Bihar.

His rifleman number was G/5009147 .

According to a police report, Birendra, who was on sentry duty at the outpost, shot himself on his neck around 11 am on Saturday.

On Sunday, his post mortem examination was conducted and the body handed over to his bereaved family for performing the final rites.
