Imphal, February 09, 2011: An emergency meeting of the Standing Committee of All Manipur working journalists' Union, held today at Manipur Press Club has strongly condemned attempt by unknown persons to abduct sub-editor of Hueiyen Lanpao (English) K Manikanta on February 7 night.

The meeting also resolved to call on the Governor Gurbachan Jagat tomorrow to highlight plight of the scribes as well as to wear black badge on February 10 and 11 in protest against the attempt on Manikanta.

A complaint memorandum will be handed to the Governor.

Decision to call on the Governor is based on the belief of the scribes that the attempt is a testimony of the State Government's inefficiency to maintain law and order.
