Imphal, August 28 2015 :
The All Tribal Chiefs' Forum (ATCF), Manipur said that the proposed enactment of the Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms (7th Amendment) Bill, 2015 should not infringe in areas where the MLR&LR Act, 1960 is not extended.
In a statement, the ATCFM said that if the proposed amendment is at all called for, there should necessarily be a separate amendment Act with the prior consent of the chiefs/khullakpas/khunbus and approval of the owners of the hill village lands.
The entire hill people will oppose tooth and nail if the ownership rights of the chiefs are derailed and usurped by the MLR&LR (7th Amendment) Bill, 2015, it warned.
