Imphal, December 17 2008:
THE ENGINEER of the Public Works Department (PWD), Chanam Biren, kidnapped by activists of a group of KCP on December 12, has been released unharmed and reached home this evening.
According to family sources, the KCP group picked up Biren from Sangakpham around 5.30 pm after he informed the family over phone that he has been released by the abductors this evening.
The engineer fainted when he reached home due to poor health condition said the family while refusing to meet him by some reporters.
But they disclosed that MLA Bijoy Koijam and officials of the PWD department took major role in the effort to convince the abductors for his safe release.
