Imphal, February 09, 2011: Two personnel of Kakching Police Station were injured as a mentally unstable person attacked them with sword at Kakching Phousupat Lairembi of Thoubal district at around 10 am today.

The police personnel Thangjam Samananda (31) of Khekman and Moirangthem Robindro (28) of Khongjom Awang Leikai had been to the locality to arrest Naorem Somorjit (38) of Kakching Senapati Leikai, who is not a mentally deranged person but also in inebriated condition.

Even as the duo tried to arrest Somorjit, he attacked them with a sword.

Samananda was injured in head while Robindro was hurt in hand.

They were discharged after giving first aid at Kakching CHC.

It is said that Somorjit not only caused public disturbance in the area but also broke a camera by snatching it away from a mapam chakkouba party.

The two police personnel came to the spot to arrest Somorjit.
