Imphal, June 09: A sub-contractor has been hospitalised after he was beaten up in connection with some missing construction materials.

The hospitalised sub-contractor has been identified as Usham Leiyon (51) of Samaram Laibung.

Leiyon is also said to be working as a Grade-IV employee in PWD Thoubal Division.

Leiyon was returning home from Thoubal at around 8.45 am today when he was waylaid and beaten up by seven other persons doing the contract work with him at Samaram Sagolsem Leikai.

They are working together for a water supply scheme at Samaram.

The project cost of the scheme is said to be Rs 50 lakhs.
