NPO calls 12-hr shutdown

Senapati, September 27 2026: To mourn the three Naga civilians who lost their lives at Kailenjang, and to register its protest and demand for justice, the Naga People's Organisation (NPO), Senapati has announced a 12-hour total shutdown of business establishments, traffic movement including military convoy movement, and private and Government offices within Senapati district, from 6 am to 6 pm on Monday, September 28, 2026 .

The NPO has appealed to the public of Senapati district to extend their cooperation and support to the 12-hour total shutdown.

The NPO has strongly condemned the attack and called for a thorough, impartial and time-bound investigation so that all persons responsible for the deaths and injuries are identified and brought to justice in accordance with law.

Reacting to a statement attributed to Lhingjajoi Hangshing, former village chief of Kailenjang, wherein she claimed to have negotiated with someone to take care of the village during her absence, the NPO has questioned the basis of such a claim, while she allegedly had sold the village.

The NPO maintained that she no longer holds customary or administrative authority to speak on behalf of the village or to make arrangements concerning its affairs, as the village no longer belongs to her.

Lhingjajoi Hangshing should refrain from making statements or representations that may create confusion, mislead the public, or further complicate the prevailing situation, NPO stated.

The NPO added that it is deeply anguished by the calculated attack carried out by narco-terrorist Kuki refugees under the alleged guidance of Lhingjahoi Hangshing, the former village chief of Kailenjang on four Naga civilians at Kailenjang village on September 26, 2026, in which two persons died at the spot, another subsequently succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment and one person sustained injuries and remains under medical care.
