5 CSOs' protest continues

Imphal, September 27 2026: 5 CSOs' series of sit-in demonstrations continued at the Tuisenphai Village Community Hall at Kharam today.

The demonstration, which urged the Government to bring about a resolution to the ongoing conflict and restore peace, was organised by the village authority, youth club and Meira Paibis of Tuisenphai.

AMUCO vice presidents K Helen and Ksh Rajen; AMAWOVA advisors Y Kunjarani and Ch Usharani; COHR chairman Phulindro Konsam; PLMPAM president Memcha and AMUCO secretary (org) Laishram Krishnachandra took part in the demonstration.

During the sit-in, the protesters condemned continued militant attacks and killings of civilians including minors.

The protesters denounced the Government of its failure to curb violence and bring about a resolution to the crisis.

The protesters urged the Government of India and the State Government to take steps to address demographic imbalance that has been brought about by illegal immigrants, and called for updating the National Register of Citizens with 1951 as the base-year before census 2027 .

The protesters also denounced the recently concluded Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, and further called for the withdrawal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act.

The 5 CSOs include the All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO), Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM), All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA), Committee on Human Rights (COHR) and Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) .
