Imphal, September 27 2026: People's Political Party (PPP) president and retired Col H Sarat has called for unity among the regional political parties.

The return of a National party after the 2027 elections will bring no desirable changes in Manipur.

To protest the State and her interests, regional political parties must unite, he said, addressing a press meet at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal.

Sarat further stated that the demand for updating the National Register of Citizens and Scheduled Tribe status for Meiteis are legitimate demands.

The people of the State have been deprived of their legitimate rights for over 70 years because of oversights and erroneous policies of the past Governments, he said.

Even after more than 3 years, the Government has failed to restore peace and facilitate the return of IDPs to their homes, he added.

For positive changes to come to Manipur, the regional parties must unite and the youth must join active politics, he added.
