Imphal, February 09, 2011: In order to prevent impersonation of voters and facilitate identification of voters, the Election Commission of India has directed that all electors in 18-Konthoujam Assembly Constituency will have to produce their electors' identity cards (EPICs) for establishing their identity before casting vote, said a statement issued today by Chief Electoral officer, Manipur.

In case individual concerned could not produce EPIC, alternative documents such as passports, driving license, Income Tax identity Card, Service identity Card, certificate of physical handicap having photograph issued by competent authority on or before December 31 (2010), NREGS job cards, etc will also be eligible.

The Commission has further clarified that any of the above documents available only to the head of the family may be used for identifying other members of the family provided all members come together and are identified by the head of the family, the CEO statement added.
