Role of Education in march forward stressed

Education Minister Th Basanta Kumar has underscored the importance of education in the development of the State and the country at large during the opening function of a two-day National conference held at the auditorium of Manipur University, today.
The conference is being organised by Manipur University, Dhanamanjuri University, Central Agricultural University, IIIT Manipur, Directorate of University & Higher Education, and Vidya Bharati Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan, Manipur Chapter under the theme "National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 : Opportunities an the Way Forward" .
At the occasion, Basanta Kumar continued that the target set to make India a developed Nation by 2047 cannot be achieved if every State including Manipur is not taken on board.
Saying that the implementation of NEP in Manipur is above average as compared to other States, the Minister continued that the Government is working to improve the infrastructure of colleges in the State by introducing College Fagathansi Mission and hiring adequate teaching staff under Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) .
To a query, Basanta Kumar responded that CBSE affiliation given to some schools in Manipur have been cancelled for not following the needed guidelines.
He also said that the Government is in touch with the authorities at CBSE to find out more schools which got CBSE affiliation through fraudulent means and will do the needful.
Vice Chancellors Prof N Lokendra (Manipur University), Prof Ravindra D Kulkarni (Mumbai University), Prof GP Prasain (Tripura University), Prof N Rajmuhon (Dhanamanjuri University), Prof Anupam Mishra (Central Agricultural University), Prof P Gunindro (Manipur University of Culture), H Gyan Prakash (Manipur Technical University), Director of IIIT Manipur Prof Krishnan Baskar and National Organising Secretary of Vidya Bharati Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan KN Raghunandan attended the conference among others.
