Imphal, December 20 2023:
Expressing deep resentment over instances of ransom demand and assault of people belonging to the Naga communities, Manipur Naga Youth Organisation (MNYO) has urged both Meetei and Kuki communities to refrain from all actions and activities that could heighten tension in the society.
In a release, MNYO president Athot Keitang emphasised on shared responsibility in safeguarding the cultural richness and diversity that form the essence of Manipur's unique social fabric.
Expressing firm believe that forging a united front against divisive forces is essential for a peaceful coexistence that transcends ethnic boundaries, the president urged the youth of both Meetei and Kuki communities to reflect on the profound consequences of intolerance and aggression.
Pointing out that patience has its limits, the president stated that acts of violence and intimidation, irrespective of the targeted community, have no place in shaping Manipur's future.
The MNYO seeks to dispel misconceptions about its position being a sign of weakness, the president conveyed, adding that impartial stance is a deliberate choice to create an environment where dialogue and understanding can flourish, laying the groundwork for a future that prioritises shared values and mutual respect.
"Looking ahead, the MNYO commits to vigilantly monitor the Situation and take decisive action whenever necessary.
The organisation firmly declares that Naga youth will not tolerate acts of hatred and violence against the Naga community," the president affirmed.
