Imphal, October 01 2015:
The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has accused a combined team of the NSCN-IM and the Dogra Regiment of disturbing public tranquillity.
ZUF publicity secretary A Longmei said that a combined team of NSCN-IM and Dogra Regiment fired indiscriminately at a place at Khoupum valley which was once occupied by ZUF.
ZUF's objective is only Statehood for Zeliangrong people as envisioned by Haipou Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu and this demand neither contradicts nor challenges the Constitution of India.
As such, there is no need for violent confrontation between Indian military forces and ZUF.
Accordingly, violent confrontations have stopped, A Longmei said.
Even though there is not a single cadre of ZUF, a combined team of NSCN-IM and Dogra Regiment bombarded the particular place today thereby seriously disturbing public tranquillity.
Even though the Government of India has acknowledged the contributions of Haipou Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu, it has been unleashing violence upon innocent civilians, he alleged.
On account of the indiscriminate firing which lasted for 30 minutes from 10 am to 10.30 am, people were fearful to venture out for their daily works.
NSCN-IM too was preaching about peace and reconciliation but its actions speak otherwise, he added.
