JNIMS Auditorium inaugurated Be humane : CM to doctors

Medical professionals should show sympathy and deal patients with humanity and dignity, stated Chief Minister of Manipur Okram Ibobi today during the inauguration of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) auditorium and opening ceremony of the 5th Annual Conference of Association of Physician of India (API), East Zone and 5th APICON Manipur Chapter at JNIMS Imphal.
The Chief Minister graced the function as the chief guest and Director of JNIMS Dr Deben Singh Laishram was the functional president.
PHED Minister I Hemochandra, newly appointed Chief Secretary O Nabakishore, Vice Chairman of the Organising Committee Dr Th Bhimo, Chairman East Zonal API Committee, Dr Giridhari Kar attended the function as the guests of honour.
To make JNIMS one of the premier medical institutes in the entire North East, the Government will provide the required man-power and necessary infrastructure, stated the Chief Minister.
Even though the State has limited resources, health sector has been given top most priority and will further continue to give more importance to this sector in the coming years.
In a bid to provide prompt medical care facilities to patients, the State Government has given due importance to the institute's Accident and Trauma Centre.
Further, he said that the State Government has been planning to provide accommodation facilities to doctors and specialists within the hospital campus so that proper care can be given to patients at any time.
The Chief Minister urged the medical professionals and stake holders to work sincerely and bring glory to the institute.
He also said that doctors, nurses and other persons should make the patients feel that they will be safe in their hands.
The newly appointed Chief Secretary O Nabakishore furnished the estimated cost of the Auditorium.
The auditorium has a capacity of 750 seats and was constructed by engineers of the State Public Works Department.
The budget for the construction is Rs 16.07 crore where Rs 12.45 crore was utilized for civil works and Rs 3.62 for electrical works.
The 5th Annual Conference of Association of Physician of India (API), East Zone and 5th APICON Manipur Chapter was attended by doctors and medical professionals from different parts of the country.
As part of the annual conference, a free diabetes and hypertension detection camp was held by JNIMS in association with Rotary Club.
