Ramp up Covid control measures: PTFC-19

Considering the Covid situation in the State and elsewhere and to avert the second wave, the People Task Force for COVID-19 (PTFC-19) has appealed to the State Government to ramp up control measures for containing coronavirus.
In a statement, PTFC-19 said that ramping up measures such as reopening of Covid Care Centres and Covid task force units opened in localities, increasing bed capacity, treatment facilities at hospitals, procurement of oximeter and oxygen, stepping up contact tracing process, etc are the need of the hour as the number of deaths and Covid cases reported in the State as well as in the other parts of the country since the past few weeks is alarming.
The committee also urged the people to support the Covid vaccination drive of the Government and get vaccinated.
Asserting that the second wave of COVID-19 is more infectious and more fatal than the previous one, the committee further urged the Government to test all returnees for COVID-19 and the people to follow Covid appropriate behaviour mandatorily.
The statement reminded that wearing face masks, regular hand washing, and maintaining physical distance are the best precautions to avoid Covid infections.
Stating the PTFC-19 will start carrying out aggressive campaigns to prevent the second wave of coronavirus from entering the State by joining hands with clubs, meira paibi lups etc, it urged the State Government, Health and Home Departments to make sure the orders issued to contain Coronavirus are effectively enforced.
It also appealed to the Police Department to take harsher actions against those who violate Covid safety protocols and to the Health Department to make public all initiative taken up for controlling the virus spread in Manipur, number of positive cases for people with travel and no travel history.
