The Joint Tribe Students' Association (JTSA) has called a 48 hours economic blockade along NH-37 from 4 pm today deman-ding befitting actions against the people who were involved in the alleged violence against Chingkham Kabui Village.
JTSA demanded immediate and speedy construc- tion of Chingkham Police Outpost at the earliest, construction of a boundary line with fencing/identification marks around Chingkham village to prevent any encroachment, deployment of additional police force to protect the villagers and prevent any unwanted incidents and compensation for the properties lost during the violent incident.
JTSA also warned the Government that if their demands are not fulfilled, they will take up stronger forms of democratic protest.
The All Tribal Rights Protection Forum Manipur (ATRPFM) has condemned the recent incidents that occurred between Chingkham Kabui Village and Lilong Chingkham Maya Development Organisation (LCMDO) regarding land disputes.
ATRPFM appealed both the parties to settle the matter as per the law of the land and as per the historical ownership of the land in question.
ATRPFM also accused the LCMDO of vandalising houses in Chingkham Kabui village and appealed the Government to punish the people who were involved in the incident, said a statement issued by ATRPFM.
ATRPFM also expressed gratitude to the Home Department for their timely intervention and for keeping the situation under control.
ATRPFM demanded that LCMDO should pay for the loss of properties caused by their unlawful violent acts.
