Video documentaries "The Miller of Haipi" and "Gender Equality�A Light in Darkness" produced by the Educational Multi Media Research Centre (EMMRC), Manipur won National awards in Best Programme on Environment and Development and Best Presentation/Anchor in Technical Excellence categories respectively of the 19th UGC-CEC Educational Video Competition 2006, informed an EMMRC release.
The jury screening of the competition organised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC) was held from October 23 to November 16 last year in CEC, Delhi.
"The Miller of Haipi" produced by L Dhananjoy of EMMRC Manipur highlights the age-old tradition and systematic use of natural water in Haipi, a hill village in Senapati district.
Balkrishna Heisnam and Sobhana Laishram, presenters/anchors of the video documentary "Gender Equality�A Light in the Darkness" also won the award for Best Presentation/Anchor for their subtle and superb performance.
The awards were distributed to the recipients by Vice-Chancellor Manipur University Prof C Amuba at a function held at the auditorium of EMMRC Manipur on June 7, added the release.
