Started in 2005 by SPIC MACAY, Imphal Chapter, the voluntary organization has been organizing such concerts, lectures, demonstrations, workshops, informal discussions and talks by eminent scholars and thinkers.
These programmes are hosted in schools and colleges across the State.
"Now the programme of SPIC MACAY has covered seven districts, and soon it would cover the entire State", stated president of SPIC MACAY Imphal Chapter Dr W Ibomcha in a brief interaction with The Sangai Express.
SPIC MACAY's endeavour is to enrich the quality of formal education by increasing awareness about different aspects of Indian heritage and inspiring the young minds to imbibe the values embedded in it.
The programmes seek to inspire youth through experiencing the mysticism embodied in the rich and heterogeneous cultural heritage of Indian and World Heritage, with a hope that the beauty, grace, values and wisdom embodied in these arts will influence their way of life and thinking and inspire one to become a better human being.
For this, the most accomplished artistes of the country render programmes of Indian classical music and dance, folk, poetry, theatre, traditional paintings, crafts & yoga primarily in schools and colleges, he added.
Dr W Ibomcha further said that till today participation of students have not yet reached its highest level as the organization has been facing serious financial constraints.
The programme is partially funded by the Governor of the State and voluntary donations from other firms and individuals.
