Bishnupur, October 23 2023:
The Village Volunteer Force Moirang has rounded up three persons in connection with the spraying of herbicide causing large scale damage to the crops of one Ahongshangbam Tonsana at Khumbram Loukol at Khudekpi Leimaram Mamang under Tronglaobi-Terakhongshangbi Gram Panchayat.
The three have been identified as Irengbam Bimol alias Babu (60) from Tronglaobi Makha Phairembam Leirak; Huidrom Heramani Singh (35), s/o Late H Ahongjao Singh from Terakhongshangbi Mamang Leikai and Leiphrakpam Muhin Singh (53), s/o Late L Chaoba from Khudekpi Mamang.
The three were handed over to local meira paibis, who in turn handed them to Moirang Police.

According to them, Irengbam Bimol hatched the plan and hired Huidrom Heramani and Leiphrakpam Muhin after paying them a sum of Rs 500 to spray herbicide on Ahongshangbam Tonsana's paddy field.
Irengbam Bimol also allegedly supplied them with the necessary items to carry out the nefarious act such as pump and herbicide.
Reportedly, despite their apprehension to carry out such an act, the two were under the influence of intoxicants and thus failed to make the morally right decision.
Interestingly Irengbam Bimol and Ahongsangbam Tonsana are brothers-in-law.
Speaking in this connection, Moirangthem Somorjit, member of Village Volunteer Force Moirang shared that upon hearing the news item about unknown miscreants spraying herbicide on a paddy field and causing a lot of damage to the crops, the volunteers of the Force took it upon themselves to nab the responsible culprits.
Discovering the connection of Huidrom Heramani and Leiphrakpam Muhin to the crime, the volunteers rounded up the duo and were subsequently able to nab Irengbam Bimol, the mastermind behind the entire plot.
For necessary legal action, the trio have been handed over to the Moirang Police through the local meira paibis, said Somorjit.
It may be noted that a few days ago some miscreants had sprayed Ahongshangbam Tonsana's paddyfield with herbicide.
Previously too, when he went to inspect his crops on September 28, he found some sections of the field had been damaged.
