Imphal, October 12 2010:
Several portions of the embankments of Kongba river, Nambul river and Thoubal river which got breached due to incessant rainfall in the past few days have been restored.
However, flood water flowing down from higher grounds have inundated new areas in Lamphelpat area and Tidim road.
According to an official working in the flood control room, the breached portions of Kongba river at Irong and Asem have been restored.
Portions of Thoubal river banks which caved in at Okram, Ningombam and Keibung have also been repaired.

Breached portion of Nambul river near Irong Chesaba too has been restored.
However, large number of human settlement areas and vast paddy fields still remained flooded.
On the other hand, many new areas of Lamphelpat and Tidim road have been inundated by flood water flowing down from higher grounds.
Following inundation of the office of Chief Electrical Officer located at Lamphelpat, CRPF personnel posted there for guarding the office are facing lot of difficulties, added the source.
