Imphal, November 17 2014:
The Adhoc Committee on the Non Gazetted Employee (Plan) IFC Department today locked the main entrance gate of the IFCD building located inside the PWD complex and staged a protest demanding their due salary.
Speaking to media persons, L Samananda, convenor of the committee said that the employees of the department have been protesting for the past three months demanding their salary.
But the department officials and Minister failed to give any positive response regarding their demand.
This compelled the employees to lock up the office as there is no value for the officials to stay in the office if they are not working and looking after the grievances of their subordinate staff.
He also said that there is no point for the Chief Engineer and other officials of the department to stay in the IFCD building and asked them to stay in the Secretariat office.
He also said that they sent an application to the Chief Minister to spare some time and talk with them regarding their demands on November 14 but till today no positive response has been received from the CM.
From mid 2013, full salaries were not given to the employees of the IFCD although they were paid salaries for a few months from time to time.
Before the Ningol Chakkouba festival, the committee asked the department concerned to give their due salaries but they were given salaries of only August and preceding months.
The backlog salaries for the subsequent months have not been paid till date and nothing has been done about the matter, he said.
He also said that they would continue with their democratic form of agitation and would not allow top officials of the department to sit in the office building until and unless their due salary is cleared by the Government.
