Imphal, December 10 2023:
The Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) has announced that they will organise a long march for National regeneration from December 20 to January 9, 2024 in the five valley districts of Manipur.
Addressing a press briefing at Palace Compound today, MAYOL convenor Asem Prince said that the long march will begin from the Kangla Fort on December 20 and conclude at Gambhir Singh Park at Canchipur on January 9, 2024 after covering all the five districts viz; Imphal East, Imphal West ,Thoubal, Bishnupur and Kakching.
Appealing to all civil society organisations (CSOs), Meira Paibi lups and students to lend a hand in making the programme success- ful, Prince said that the objective of the long march is to spread the idea of peaceful coexistence, bring uniform development and rejuvenate Manipur.
He also said that they will convene several rounds of meetings at different places of the five districts during the period (December 20 to January 9, 2024) .
Saying that there are many chronic issues which are detrimental to the Manipur and her people, Prince continued that Manipur is now lagging behind politically and econo- mically with the State Government not in the power to take even a small decision independently and depending on others for almost everything.
Continuing that the aggression of Kuki narco-terrorists has put the State in a every more difficult and complex situation, Prince claimed that the ultimate goal of the violent campaign launched by Kuki narco-terrorists on May 3, 2023 is to wipe out Meeteis from Manipur and establish their homeland in the State using brute force.
The Kuki narco-terrorists are driven by their evil intention to snatch the land of Manipur and establish Zalengam/Zogam, he claimed and added that it is the bounden duty of all Meeteis to safeguard Manipur at whatever capacity they can and prevent recurrence of the devastating Chahi Taret Khuntakpa.
