Imphal, December 10 2023:
It is the weakness of the incumbent government that even the chief minister and council of ministers could not enter Churachandpur district, contended social activist and Indigenous People's Forum Manipur president Ashang Kasar.
Taking part in a peace convention organised in connection with 4th Foundation Day celebration of Kangleipak Minority Welfare Organisation (KMWO) on Sunday, Ashang said a video went viral on social media about restriction of entry of vehicle in Churachandpur merely for having Salai-Taret sticker.
Restricting movement of private vehicles having sticker meahs that there is no law and restricting movement of vehicles on road without any valid reason are acts of terrorism/extremism, he said adding that such excessive acts shows that there is no government and no leader and almost akin to partition of the state.
According to Ashang Kasar, lip service alone cannot protect territorial integrity of Manipur but require proactive steps collectively.
He also said that all contructive ideas, proposals and actions for the betterment of Manipur need to be acknowledged and upheld collectively.
In his address, KMWO president Nasir Khan said that the ethnic violence that broke out on May 3 was initially seen as a communal clash.
However, there is no end to the violence even after seven months and attempts are being made to drag neutral communities into the violence now.
It is now very clear that attempt made by Chin-Kuki narco-terrorist to break apart Manipur led to the violence, he claimed adding that KMWO will take the responsibility to protect territorial integrity of Manipur and no inch of the state can be partitioned or separated.
He also said that KMWO will extend help to people who come out to defend the motherland and urged both the Centre and the state government to resolve the crisis for peace to prevail in the state.
The event organised under the theme 'Apunba Saktam Kaiba Yaroi Amasung Tunggi Yumbirel Kansi' was also attended by DIET, Kakching principal K Radhakanta Singh, FOCS general secretary Angom Punil Singh, All Manipur Muslim Organisation Coordinating Committee SM Jalal, Manipur Women's Federation general secretary T Demona and All Manipur Students Guardians' Organisation general secretary Sumati Sougrakpam.
