The Naga People's Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) observed the 75th years of the United Nations universal declaration of human rights (UDHR) under the theme "Equality, Freedom and Justice for All" at the conference hall of Naga Peoples' Organisation (NPO) Senapati, on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, NPMHR secretary general Neingulo Krome recounted the Naga journey for human rights and shared how risky it was to introduce himself as human rights activist.
Krome informed that NPMHR was actively involved in peaceful conclusion of the Naga peace talk by engaging with various civil society organisations including the Naga Hoho, UNC and Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) .
Leaflets and poster campaign were also launched on the occasion by NPMHR, as secretary general Krome read out a statement in commemorating the 75th anniversary of the United Nations' declaration of Human rights where stating that the Naga struggle for political freedom from the military occupation of Our homeland is replete with repressive subjugation and denial and violations of human rights.
For decades, the Indian military has been systematically discriminating our people not just physically but psychologically to such an extent that many people are now devoid of the basic Naga people hood attribute.
Forces from within and beyond are in collusion to strip our people of our peoplehood, he said.
